Every child who arrives at Huis Maerua carries a story; often marked by loss, trauma, neglect, or uncertainty. Here, those stories begin to change.
More than providing shelter, Huis Maerua Children’s Home creates a place where children can heal, belong, and rediscover the joy of being a child. Through therapeutic support, education, loving care, and life-changing opportunities, we help vulnerable children rebuild their confidence, restore their hope, and dream about a future filled with possibility.
The impact of this work extends far beyond today. Every meal served, every counselling session, every bedtime story, every school achievement, and every moment of encouragement help shape a stronger, healthier, and more resilient young person.
When you support Huis Maerua Children’s Home, you become part of a child's journey from survival to healing, from fear to security, and from brokenness to hope. Together, we are not simply caring for children; we are restoring childhoods and building futures that can change generations.
At Huis Maerua Children's Home, we are committed to protecting the privacy, dignity, and rights of every child in our care. In line with child protection legislation and ethical standards, all personal information, photographs, case details, and records relating to the children are treated as strictly confidential and may only be shared with authorised persons where legally permitted. Furthermore, all employees, volunteers and any individuals who have direct contact with the children are legally required to provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate before commencing their duties. This important safeguard helps ensure that every child grows up in a safe, secure, and protected environment.
